Baby Blanket
I went to my first baby shower after teaching myself to crochet, so of course I wanted to make a blanket! It was for a baby boy, so I wanted to find the perfect blanket that wasn't too babyish. I did lots of searching online, then I found a cute blanket on the Michael's website. http://www.michaels.com/art/online/projectsheet?pid=e06355 I looked online at the baby registry to get color ideas. His parents didn't register for anything blue or babyish. His bedroom is going to be natural colors, and sheets were white, green, and brown. I picked green, brown, and grey for the blanket.
The directions called for a type of crochet hook called a speed hook. It is HUGE compared to normal crochet hooks. The red on is the speed hook, and the gold one is what I usually use!
It took some getting used to, and kind of hurt my wrist at first. It was also hard to get used to using three strands of yarn at one time instead of just one. Since it was my first one, it was a little messed up. I decreased by two rows about four inches from the beginning. I thought about restarting, but didn't really want to. I put my label right on the messed up part, so it kind of looks like it is supposed to be that way?
Overall, I think it is a pretty cute and cuddley blanket! His mom was pretty surprised I made something :)

You will have to come out for a visit if you want me to teach you! I tried to teach Dorian when she was here, not sure if she is still trying! I taught myself with the book "Teach Yourself Visually Crocheting"
